Family documents
- Copy of the reference person’s passport – all used pages *
- If the applicant is a minor and only one parent is going to live in Norway, either a written consent from the other parent, together with a certified copy of his or her valid ID, must be submitted, or a court order stating that the parent living in Norway has full parental responsibility
- If the applicant is older than 21: documentation which shows that the applicant is currently financially supported by the EU/EEA national, and that it is necessary for the applicant’s basic needs to be supported by the EU/EEA national
- Description of the child’s situation
If missing documents
- If relevant, a written explanation as to why you cannot present one or more of the documents mentioned above

Reference person's EEA status
If the reference person is working
- Employment documentation (work contract or proof of employment) *
- The three most recent payslips *
If the reference person is self-employed
- Proof that you are self-employed *
- Client contracts *
- Documentation of your reported income and expenses *
- Proof of registration in the VAT register *
- Accounting records and bookkeeping records *
- Documentation of upcoming contracts, if applicable
- Outgoing invoices *
If employed in a foreign enterprise
- Your employment contract with your foreign employer *
- Assignment contract between the foreign enterprise which you work for (or run) and the company in Norway you are doing the assignment for *
- If you are self-employed you have to submit documentation which shows that your company is registered in another EEA country
If the sponsor has sufficient own funds
- Proof of health insurance for the applicant that includes all medical expenses covered by Norwegian legislation *
- Proof of sufficient subsistence funds for the sponsor and his/her family member *
If the reference person is a student
- Confirmation of admission to an approved study programme *
- Proof of health insurance for the applicant that includes all medical expenses covered by Norwegian legislation *
- Proof of sufficient subsistence funds for the sponsor and his/her family member *
