Volontariat associatif — Résidence-conversion track (NOT a Vietnam-entry route)

Volontariat associatif is not a direct entry route from Vietnam. It requires at least 1 year of prior legal residence in France with a qualifying titre de séjour. This sub-track is for people already lawfully living in France who want to convert their status to volunteering with a qualifying association or foundation. The age band is 25 and over — distinct from service civique, which serves those under 25. The host must be a foundation or association recognised as being of public benefit and must hold a valid agrément; the mission must have a social or humanitarian purpose. Vietnamese clients in Vietnam seeking to volunteer in France should be redirected to the CES (volunteer-evs) route instead.

From the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs

“Not a visa entry track from Vietnam. Applicants already in France apply for a change of status at the préfecture. The resulting residence document is a carte de séjour temporaire with the mention « visiteur » per F13273. Age band: ≥25 years (volontariat associatif is distinct from service civique which serves those ≤25). Host must be a foundation or association recognised d'utilité publique with a valid agrément. Mission purpose must be social or humanitarian per F17335 criteria. Vietnamese applicants seeking to volunteer in France from Vietnam must be redirected to volunteer-evs (CES). EES does not apply to long-stay titre de séjour holders.”
