VISAHJELP

Vocational-training-place jobseeker (up to 25 years) and job seeker

National (long-stay) visa for entering Germany in order to look for a vocational-training place or employment (residence title for vocational-training-place or jobseeking under § 17 of the Residence Act for vocational-training-place jobseekers up to 25 years old, and under the general jobseeker provisions of the Residence Act for already-recognised skilled workers). Applicants qualify through one of three paths: with recognised academic qualification, with recognised vocational training, or as a vocational-training-place jobseeker under 25 with a university-entrance school qualification or a German-school-abroad diploma. Language skills at B1 level are generally required if you have recognised vocational training; for those with a recognised academic qualification language proof is not mandatory but increases the plausibility of the application.

What you need

  • You must show a self-written motivation letter (areas of work or training interest, applications, planned accommodation); proof of qualification matching your category — either degree certificate with ANABIN extracts for the degree and the university (each rated 'H+'), or vocational training certificate with a recognition decision (Anerkennungsbescheid) from the competent body in Germany, or a school qualification granting university entrance or a German-school-abroad diploma (for vocational-training-place jobseekers under 25) — and proof of financing (a blocked account with €1,027/month, or a formal sponsor's declaration with proof of financial standing and the purpose 'jobseeking' or 'vocational-training-place seeking'). In addition: a tabular CV, a passport, biometric photos, and medical-insurance cover for at least three months from your intended entry date. Language skills at B1 level are generally required if you have recognised vocational training; for academic qualifications they are not mandatory.

Your training certificate and a recognition decision (Anerkennungsbescheid) from the competent body in Germany, and, where applicable, proof of prior professional experience. 04

Language skills

  • Language certificate. You must in principle show language skills at B1 level if you have recognised vocational training. You provide the proof through a recognised certificate from an examination provider accredited under the standards of ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe). The following currently apply: • Goethe-Institut e.V. certificates; • telc GmbH certificates; • Austrian Language Diploma (ÖSD) certificates; • „TestDaF" from the TestDaF-Institut e.V. (institute of FernUniversität Hagen and Ruhr-Universität Bochum; exam level starts at B2 CEFR); • ECL Prüfungszentrum certificates. The certificate must not be older than 12 months at the time of application. Note also that if you have taken the exam in different modules, all module exams must have been taken with the same examination provider. Taking different exam parts with different providers is not sufficient. Exception: if you have a recognised academic qualification, proof of relevant language skills is not mandatory, but it increases the plausibility of the visa application
